My friend Erin has this fabulous garden. It starts out looking like a scene from the X-Files Movie (you know the one, with the bees?) but it gets even more fascinating after that.
I was driving home after riding at the barn today, and I took a street that took me right by her house. I realized that there was enough light, and I admit it, I snuck into the back yard to take a few photos. I’ve been threatening to do this for about a week now. Luckily the garden is awesome enough to not need any real photography skills to capture.
It’s a winter garden, that’s why its all bundled up under those hoops and warm blankets. She’s eating fresh green vegetables in the dead of winter. Okay, we live in California, so it’s not like there’s two feet of snow on the ground, but it’s still winter to the plants.
I’m pretty sure Erin started most of these plants from seed, no seedlings for her! Hopefully she’ll remind me of the cool company she buys her seeds from. She has like FIVE types of heirloom tomatoes planned for this summer (you know who’s house I’m going to be at!). She took a class in Santa Cruz on winter gardens, and shared a little of what she learned with me, but it wasn’t until about a week ago that I learned she’s actually put all of that knowledge to use!
I hope you enjoy my tour of Erin’s garden! And I hope Erin doesn’t kill me!
Note: I just spent forever fighting with my computer. This post is backdated because it belongs on 1/9/2009, even if my firkken computer failed me!
