During my last trip to the Library I found The Bread Baker’s Apprentice: Mastering the Art of Extraordinary Bread. I liked it so much I had to buy it. I can’t recall if I made the bread out of it before buying it, but I do recall that I couldn’t renew the book because someone else had it reserved.
I made my first ciabatta bread last Friday, and it was delicious! I accidentally wound up cooking it upside down, which is why it isn’t all lovely and golden on the top. I thought it looked like a manatee, or perhaps a beluga whale. At any rate it was very tasty! We had grilled ciabatta and provolone sandwiches one night with a salad made with lettuce from our CSA.
I started another batch of ciabatta today (it’s after midnight now), and I let one of the steps go for too long. I hope it’s edible! I’ll probably post about it Sunday as I work Saturday.
