I packed my lunch and programmed the coffee pot the night before, because I am a zombie anytime before 9 am. I managed to drag myself out of bed when the alarm sounded at 7:30 so I could leave by 8 am. I was worried about traffic and how long the 25 mile drive might take, but I got to school far too early.
My schedule is:
- Intermediate Sewing 9:10 am – 12:00 pm
- Lunch Break 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm (I took a nap)
- Fashion Principles 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
- Fashion Illustration 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm
That’s exhausting just to type!
Sewing sounds like it’s going to be great! I have to make a shirt and a coat. I’m hoping this will make me a much more confident sewer. Fashion Principles is about what makes fashion work, and I’m hoping the information will help me to decide what things I want to sew. Fashion illustration is a very cool concept: it’s not drawing per se, it’s a language by which you can convey some very specific information. I’m hoping this will help me to get my ideas out of my head, on to paper, and from there inspire me to sew!
These are also all classes applicable to one of the four different certificates offered by the fashion department. I think I want to go for the theater costuming one, but it all sounds pretty exciting.
As we went over collecting scrap images from magazines, inspiration board collage, sketching, swatches, art and sewing supplies, and our semester projects, I got a warm fuzzy feeling: this is the kind of stuff I’ve loved my whole life! It’s like I might have found my niche!
Lets see how I feel around finals time, right? *wink*
