The other day Rob and I had a conversation that went something like:
Me: What’s a word for something that never existed and is extinct?
Me: I mean like a Brontosaurus.
Yes I know that the Brontosaurus continues to exist as the Apatasaurus, but there was something awesome about the huge vegetarian dinosaur with the long neck and tail and the tiny head named “thunder lizard.” Who could prefer the name “deceptive lizard” over “thunder lizard”? And don’t forget that when I was a youngster (I’m nearly as old as a Brontosaurus) apparently the Brontosaurus couldn’t walk, they didn’t know how it kept itself warm (was it cold blooded? warm?), and I seem to think they thought it lived in swamps or water. If you want to know more about “What Happened to the Brontosaurus” check out the link.
Why is the Brontosaurus on my mind? Because I made this at Z’s baby shower:
The Brontosaurus still makes my silly with delight! M brought the supplies and it was so easy and fun! Here’s a link to the free project instructions and the Brontosaurus appliqué pattern. I kind of want to appliqué everything with Brontosauruses, but then I went over to Etsy.com and discovered that the love is still strong for the Brontosaurus:
There is still love for the long-extinct (and renamed) Brontosaurus!
